inked between India and Pakistan in 1960 was a major milepost in the history of development of
irrigation structure in the fiefdom The
convention gave the rights of the three eastern gutters of the Indus
receptacle videlicet Ravi, Sutlej and
Beas to India and therefore needed the construction of inter swash
link conduits to haul water from Indus,
Jhelum and Chenab to the eastern
corridor of the fiefdom. It was
after this convention that Pakistan erected Tarbela and Mangla budgets to store
thunderstorm water for downtime months to continue to wash the fields time round. The alternate major development post
independence in the history of irrigation in Punjab was 1991 Water Accord
between all the four businesses of
Pakistan. This accord gave Punjab
fiefdom55.94 million acre bases of
water share annually for its irrigation and drinking exercises. It's with this share that the
Punjab Irrigation Department caters to its 21 million acres of command area in
the fiefdom.
